Add the Mevrik Messenger widget to any website by pasting one snippet into your pages. Use this guide if your site isn't on WordPress, Webflow or Shopify, or if you'd rather add the code yourself.

Time: about 5 minutes

Before you start

You need:

  • Access to edit your website's HTML, or to the place where your site lets you add custom code.
  • A Mevrik account with the Owner or Admin role.

Copy your snippet

  1. In Mevrik, go to Settings → Mevrik Messenger → Install.
  2. Scroll to Embed code. Your snippet is shown under Installation snippet.
  3. Click the copy button on the snippet.

The snippet already contains your workspace slug and all of its settings, so there is nothing else to copy. It looks like this:

<script
  src="https://cdn.mevrik.ai/widget/YOUR-WORKSPACE-SLUG.js"
  data-workspace="YOUR-WORKSPACE-SLUG"
  data-pulse-marketing-consent="true"
  async
></script>

Add it to your site

  1. Open the HTML of your site. If your site has a shared layout or template, use that so the snippet is on every page.
  2. Paste the snippet just before the closing </body> tag.
  3. Save and publish your site.

The Messenger launcher appears in the bottom-right corner of your pages.

Choose how it opens

On the Install tab, Installation method has two options:

OptionWhat it does
PopupThe automatic launcher button opens the widget as a popup or sidebar. The snippet above is all you need.
InlineEverything in Popup, plus a Custom button snippet you can paste anywhere on your page to open the widget from a spot you choose. You can change the button's label and icon first.

To use the custom button, choose Inline, set Button label and Icon, copy the button code shown under Custom button and paste it where you want the button to appear.

Limit where the widget loads

Under Allowed domains, you can list the sites the widget is allowed to load on.

  1. Type the full address of your site, for example https://example.com, and click Add. Use the address on its own, starting with http:// or https://.
  2. Add every address your site is served from, including any test or staging address you check it on.

The widget only loads on listed domains. If the list is empty, it loads everywhere.

Turn Pulse analytics on or off

Include Pulse analytics adds behavioural tracking (page views, clicks and form activity) to your snippet. It is on by default. This setting is part of the snippet itself, so if you change it, copy the snippet again and replace it everywhere you've installed it. The change doesn't take effect on a site until you do.

Confirm the widget is live

  1. Open your website in a new browser tab. The Messenger launcher appears in the bottom-right corner.
  2. In Mevrik, on the Install tab, click Check now next to Installation status.

If Mevrik finds the widget, you see Widget detected and the status changes to Installed. If not, you see Widget not detected yet and the status stays at Not detected yet. Mevrik checks for the widget script on your allowed domains.

If you change your workspace slug

Your slug is part of the snippet's address and of its data-workspace setting. If you change it under Embed code → Workspace slug, the old snippet stops loading. Copy the new snippet and replace it everywhere you've installed it. A slug is 3 to 50 lowercase letters, numbers or hyphens, with no hyphen at the start or end.

Troubleshooting

The launcher doesn't appear

  • Check the snippet is on the page, just before </body>, and that you published the site after adding it.
  • Check Allowed domains. If the list isn't empty, the address you're testing on must be in it.
  • If you changed your workspace slug, replace the snippet with the new one.
  • Clear your site's cache and your browser cache, then reload.

"Widget not detected yet" after you click Check now
Mevrik looks for the script on your allowed domains, so make sure the address of the page you pasted the snippet into is in that list.

"Enter a full URL, e.g. https://example.com" when adding a domain
Enter the address with http:// or https:// at the start and no path after it.

"This slug is already in use."
Another workspace already has that slug. Choose a different one.
