Connect your WordPress site to Mevrik and the Messenger widget is added to every page for you. You don't edit theme files or copy any code.

Time: about 2 minutes

Before you start

You need:

  • A self-hosted WordPress site (WordPress.org) that is live on the internet. Mevrik must be able to reach it.
  • A WordPress administrator account that can install plugins.
  • A Mevrik account with the Owner or Admin role. Other roles can see the WordPress settings but can't connect a site.

Connect your site

  1. In Mevrik, go to Settings → Mevrik Messenger → Install.
  2. Under One-click setup, click WordPress.
  3. Enter your site's address, for example https://yoursite.com, and click Connect.
  4. You're taken to your WordPress site. Log in if asked, then approve the request. WordPress creates an Application Password for Mevrik, so you never share your own password.
  5. You're brought back to Mevrik. The WordPress dialog opens and shows Connected with your site name.

You can also connect from Settings → Mevrik Connect → WordPress → Connect. Both places use the same connection.

Check the plugin is active

After you connect, the dialog shows the status of the Mevrik Messenger plugin on your site:

StatusWhat it meansWhat to do
ActiveThe widget is live on your site.Nothing. Open your site to see the launcher.
InactiveThe plugin is installed but switched off, so the widget isn't showing.Click Activate.
Not installedThe plugin isn't on your site yet.Click Install & Activate.
UnreachableMevrik couldn't reach your site to check.Click Reconnect. See Troubleshooting.

Confirm the widget is live

  1. Open your website in a new browser tab. The Messenger launcher appears in the bottom-right corner.
  2. In Mevrik, on the Install tab, click Check now next to Installation status. It should change to Installed.

If you've added domains under Allowed domains, make sure your WordPress site's address is in the list. The widget only loads on listed domains. If the list is empty, it loads everywhere.

Disconnect

Open the WordPress dialog and click Disconnect, then confirm. This deactivates the plugin and the widget disappears from your site straight away. You can reconnect at any time.

Troubleshooting

"Could not reach that URL — check it's a live WordPress site."
Check the address is correct, starts with https:// and opens in a browser. Sites behind a login wall, a maintenance page or a local address (such as localhost) can't be connected.

"Connection not completed"
You left the WordPress approval page without approving. Click Connect again and approve the request.

"Application password revoked"
Someone removed Mevrik's Application Password in WordPress (Users → Profile → Application Passwords). Enter your site address again and approve the new request.

"Plugin installed — script delivery failed" or "Script delivery failed"
The plugin is on your site but the widget script didn't arrive. Click Reconnect. If it keeps happening, contact support.

The widget doesn't show, but the plugin says Active

  • Clear your caching plugin's cache and your browser cache.
  • If you use a caching or optimisation plugin (WP Rocket, W3 Total Cache, LiteSpeed Cache), exclude mevrik.js from JavaScript minification, combining and deferral.
  • Check Allowed domains (see above).

"Couldn't install plugin"
Install the plugin from wp-admin instead, then come back and click Activate.
